I went to the Dr. a few days ago and it's official. I'm a diabetic. I've been borderline for a while now but knew in my heart as I've watched the AM bloodsugars rise that I'd crossed over the border. Added with the other health problems I already have it's almost enough to make me want to just curl up in bed, pull the covers over my head and sleep the rest of my life away. Almost. But I'm a stronger person that that so instead I choose to firmly take a grip on my eating habits thus controlling my blood sugar and cholesteral and hopefully losing a ton of weight in the process. After all I've been looking forward for a long time to being a persnickety old woman and I sure want to be able to enjoy it when I get there. LOL!

Okay, so this is me. All 334 lbs. of me! You don't know how rare a photo this is as I do NOT like to have my picture taken. Not photogenic doesn't even begin to describe me. But I wanted a good "before" picture so I asked my friend Mary to take this. Go ahead. Take a good look because this is the Last time I'm ever going to look like this! This blog will not be focussed on weight loss but as it will focus on cooking better meals and growing better food to aid in my weight loss I thought it was appropriate to post the BEFORE picture here. In addition to the health benefits from eating good, homegrown vegetables my gardening will also serve as a large part of my exercise program.

Let the Journey begin!

Well bless your pea-pickin' heart. I think those of us who know we are too big all don't want our pictures taken. I'm 215 these days and terribly unhappy about it. Just gotta get this move done and we'll go back on our sensible eating plan.

Another blog to add to my list!

Your friend, Fitzy

Nancy I'm so proud of you. I know you can accomplish your goal. That food sure looks yummy. I haven't thought about creating a differnt blog other than the quilting one. I just think I have more quilty things to talk about. I do love to garden and read though.
